Genero has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in meteorology and broadcasting. She began her professional journey in 1984 at the radio station WYRK2 before transitioning to the CBS affiliate in Buffalo, where she worked as a weekend weathercaster. During this time, she earned her credentials from the University of Mississippi’s Broadcast Meteorology program. In 1989, Genero moved to Miami, Florida, to serve as the evening meteorologist for WCIX. She later relocated to Los Angeles to work for KABC, where she hosted a lifestyle show and served as the weekend meteorologist.
